ART EXHIBIT PROCEDURES

The Haverhill Public Library makes available exhibit space for local artists as an extension of its mission "to serve the cultural, social, and community needs of a diverse population..."  To apply for exhibit space, artists must complete an art display request.

At present, the exhibit area consists of 113 linear feet of wall space on the second floor of the library. The following procedures are designed to facilitate the arrangements for art exhibits.

1. Gallery space for art exhibits may be scheduled through the director's office. Prior to scheduling, each artist must contact the library director to coordinate set up, removal, and publicity (373-1586, Ext. 621).

2. Exhibits may be scheduled for up to 8 week-time periods.

3. The library will supply "S" hook hangers for hanging artwork.

4. Each artist will supply the hanging material (wire, nylon, etc.)

5. Artists are responsible for hanging exhibits and taking down exhibits at the prearranged times. Set up and removal of art exhibits will be coordinated with Haverhill Public Library's custodial staff. Each artist will call the head custodian to arrange a specific set-up time. The custodian will supply the artist with a ladder for hanging the exhibit. Please ask someone at the main desk or the office to page the custodian.

6. Artists are responsible for providing information for exhibit announcements, fliers, press releases, etc. to the business office. Artists are responsible for replenishing business cards and other information.

7. The library will send press releases announcing the exhibit to the media.

8. Artists may make arrangements with the director for a reception. Non-alcoholic beverages may be served in the areas adjacent to the art exhibit. Beverages must be clear liquid and non-staining.

9. Each artist will be required to sign a waiver of liability for lost or damaged artwork. (Please note: This policy has not been put into place to date. The building is secured at night.)

10. Artists will notify the business office in writing if any artwork is removed or changed during the exhibit.
