Computer Lab Adult and Young Adult Services

Guidelines for Public Use of the Internet: 

  • Our computers are free, open and accessible to all adults and young adults, aged 13 and up.
  • We ask all our computer users to be respectful of others, and keep all conversations to a minimum.
  • Unless working on a school assignment or similar task, we limit computer use to one person per computer.
  • We strongly advise users to obtain a valid Massachusetts library card, which is necessary to access our computer reservation system.
  • We provide visitor passes to anyone who is not able to obtain a library card.
  • Users are limited to 3 logins per day.  Sessions are 45 minutes when people are waiting.  If no one is waiting extra time will be allotted in increments of 15 minutes.
  • We urge users to back-up all work with a floppy disc or USB drive.  The Haverhill Library is not responsible for lost or missing data.
  • MySpace.com is only permissible for users aged 14 and up.
  • We charge 15 cents per page for B&W and 25 cents for color printing.

 Use of computer resources for ANY of the following is prohibited: 

  • Stealing, damaging or altering software or hardware.
  • Using computer resources for other than their intended purpose.
  • Attempting to, or gaining unauthorized access to files, passwords, data, etc.
  • Violating software license agreements.
  • Violating applicable federal, state, or local laws.
  • Interfering with or disrupting other computer users.
  • Behaving in a malicious, threatening, harassing, or obscene manner.
  • Publicly displaying obscene materials on computer screens or in hard copy.

 

The Haverhill Public Library reserves the right to exclude any library patron from use of our computer resources for violation of these stated policies.
