Books
The Parent-Teacher (P-T) collection consists of books, videos and audiocassettes on childrearing and child development as well as curriculum resources, homeschooling resources, and informational picture books for parents to share with children.  Conveniently located in the Children's Room for browsing, this collection supplements books found in the Main Library.  Some examples of popular titles include:

The New York Times Parent's Guide to the Best Books for Children by Eden Ross Lipson j011.62/Lip/P-T
An especially fine arrangement of recommended books arranged by age appropriateness. The indexes are extremely helpful; there is an illustrator index, a subject index, and an age appropriate index as well as the usual author and title index.
 
Babies Need Books by Dorothy Butler j027.62/But/P-T
Who should know better about books and kids than a children's book seller who has 8 children of her own? Wonderful suggestions for books and related activities for kids through age 5.
What Your First Grader Needs to Know: Fundamentals of a good first grade education by E.D. Hirsch, Jr. j372.19/Wha
Covers the fundamentals in language arts, geography, fine arts, mathematics, and natural science. Other titles in this series available.
 
The New Read-Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease j372.6/Tre/P-T
"Wonderful suggestions for books to read aloud to children. Practical ideas about how to make children enjoy literature. The author recommends different strategies for building and maintaining love of reading in children from birth through teenage years.
 
Teach Your Kids About Music: An Activity Handbook for Parents and Teachers Using Children's Literature by Ruby Chronniger j372.87/Chr/P-T
This book combines the teaching of music with children's literature through fun creative activities such as arts and crafts, rhythm games, and more.
