 Services

Teacher Cards If you teach in Haverhill, you are eligible for a teacher designation on your Haverhill Public Library Card. To receive this designation you must provide proof of your residence, teaching position and your hometown library card (for non-residents). This designation allows you to:
  • Request up to 15 books, free from the restraints of three per subject/author/series" (subject to certain limits set by the Children's Dept. staff).
  • Have the Children's Dept. staff locate varied materials on a specific topic.

Teacher Baskets A teacher basket is a collection of up to fifteen items on a subject, fiction and or nonfiction, thoughtfully selected by the Children's Room staff, for use by the teacher in his or her classroom. The Children's Room staff can prepare only two teacher baskets a week, so call early! Teacher baskets circulate for three weeks and may NOT be renewed -- sorry!

Reserves A teacher may call ahead or fill out and mail in an assignment form requesting that materials be set aside for projects students are working on. Materials are placed on in house reserve, for library use only. Reserves eliminate the problem of running out of books on topic.

Tours The Children's Room staff gives library tours through grade 5. Tours are an hour in length. Students will not have the opportunity to select books or obtain library cards at this time.

Kits The Children's Room offers kits on a variety of topics for teachers to borrow. Kits include 5+ books on a theme, such as a season, holiday, or unit of study. Sometimes puzzles and/or games are included. Kits circulate for three weeks. These kits were made possible through an Early Childhood Education Grant. The complete list will be posted soon.
