Reader's Fund
The Reader's Fund is a new campaign to purchase specific items for the library collection, such as a new book or video, audiocassette, computer or reference CD-ROM.  For a complete list of funds, please visit our funds page.

Book/CD/Magazine Donations 
We appreciate your donations!  The only books we CANNOT use are Encyclopedia sets (more than 3 yrs. old), Textbooks, and Magazines. Books/CDs will be considered for addition to the library's collections, but if we cannot add your books, they will be places in our bi-annual book sale to raise money for the library. Used books in good condition are accepted year round.  To make arrangements to donate, call Mike at x 645 at the library and schedule an appointment.  

Small qty. (3 boxes or less) donations may be left without appt. on the donation carts located on both the 1st and 2nd floors of the library, anytime the library is open.

Gifts
The Haverhill Public Library welcomes gifts of library materials, money or real property. These gifts help enrich and improve public library resources.  

  • Monetary contributions are added to the library's Trust Fund which is allocated by the Library Board for purchase of materials or programs too expensive or specialized for the regular budget.  For a complete list of funds, please visit our funds page.
     

  • Memorial books or other library materials may be donated in honor of a friend or relative, and are marked with a special bookplate.  For a complete list of memorial funds, please visit our funds page.
     

  • The library may or may not accept donations of specialized collections. A decision will be made on an individual basis by the Library Board of  Trustees, based on the recommendation of the Library Director.
     

  • The library applies the same criteria for evaluating gift items as it applies to purchased material. Please preview our materials selection policy. Gifts will be withdrawn in the same manner as purchased material. The library does not accept responsibility for notifying donors of withdrawal or replacement of gift items.
     

  • All gifts are tax deductible and the library will furnish a statement for tax purposes, but does not place a financial value on used items.
     

  • No gifts are accepted unless given to the library without restriction. All gifts may be utilized, sold or disposed of in the best interest of the library. All donations are accepted only if the Library Director feels they can be utilized by the Library. 

Suggested Wording for Wills, Bequests, and Endowment Funds
"I give to the Haverhill Public Library the sum of $_______ (or property described) to be used at the Haverhill Public Library, 99 Main Street, Haverhill, Massachusetts for the specific purpose of ________________."

Describe purposes, i.e. Children's Services, Young Adult Services, Special Collections, Adult Nonfiction, Computer Technology, etc).

Capital Purposes
"I give to the Haverhill Public Library the sum of $_______ (or property described) to be used at the Haverhill Public Library, 99 Main Street, Haverhill, Massachusetts for capital purposes."
