Donna Talmage
Children's Department

Donna is one of the many "old-timers" at the library, a valued employee since she started with us back in 1990. She probably retains her youthful spirit by working with children every day. She truly enjoys matching a child with just the right book -  'reading the child' to understand what he or she needs. Often, Donna says, the child will enlighten her to a good undiscovered reading treasure as well. She also enjoys helping children learn new computer, library, and research skills.

Donna hails from Boxford, MA but now lives in Merrimac, and has two grown children. Daughter Emily has a degree in environmental education and lives in Santa FE, NM, but is currently working with the troops in Iraq, and son David is a bluegrass musician who has performed in numerous places locally with his group, The Mill City Ramblers.

When Donna researched her family tree, she not only found out that she has deep family roots in New England, but also that many of her ancestors were killed in the Oyster River Massacre in 1694! The mass grave from that massacre is located on the Little River Buffalo Farm in Durham NH, and the Langley family is nice enough to let Donna on the property for an occasional visit. Interestingly, Donna's son has recently taken up residence in the same area of NH!
