Scholastic announced today that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released on July 21st of this year.

Printz Award winners announced
The winner of this years Printz award is American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang with honors going to The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing Traitor to the Nation volume 1 The Pox Party by MT Anderson, An Abundance of Katherines by John Green, Surrender by Sonya Hartnett, and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Margaret A. Edwards Award Announced
The winner of this year's Margaret A. Edwards award is Lois Lowry for The Giver.
Best Books for Young Adults, Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers, and Great Graphic Novels have been announced

The Teen Service Program
The Teen Service Program is a program offered by the Library that allows teens who have fines or overdue materials to clear their library cards so that they can check out materials again. Teen Service Programs are held once per month- the first Wednesday of the month from 3 - 5 pm. Teens will earn the equivalent of $5/hour worked that will be applied to their library accounts. Any Haverhill or Bradford teen between the ages of 13 and 18 is eligible to participate. For more information, please see the pamphlet in the YA area or ask a librarian.

Upcoming movies based on teen books
Artemis Fowl, How to Eat Fried Worms, and Stormbreaker
are all scheduled to be released in 2006.
Film version of Hoot coming soon
A film adaptation of the Carl Hiaasen novel Hoot is scheduled to be released on May 5th.
In this rollicking, quirky ecological thriller, the three unlikely friends lead a protest to save the endangered burrowing owls nesting on the property where a brand new Mother Paula's All-American Pancake House is about to be built. His "Down with Buttermilk" campaign leads Roy to take on the construction guys, the corporate PR honchos, and the well-meaning police all for the sake of the owls.
