Every September, the American Library Association (ALA) holds Banned Books Week which celebrates our freedom to read. It highlights attempts (both past and current) of the censorship of books in schools and libraries. Unsurprisingly, most challenged books contain LGBTQ+ content, race, sexual situations, or anti-Christian viewpoints. The vast majority of challenged books are also titles aimed at children and teens.
