HPL Celebrates National Foster Care Month!

Did you know that May is National Foster Care Month?

According to a 2018 report from the Children’s Bureau, there are over 440,000 children and youth in foster care. This month is a time to recognize and honor all of those who make a difference in the lives of these children, from foster parents to child welfare professionals and policymakers.

If you or your family are considering adoption, the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) is a fantastic resource. Their website walks you through the steps in the adoption process, introduces you to children who are awaiting adoption and provides information about family support services.

Locally, the Department of Children & Families Haverhill Area Office is just down the road from the library. Their address is 3 Ferry Street in Bradford, and their phone number is (978) 469-8800.

Be sure to stop by our book display and check out some of these available titles on foster care and adoption!
