Book Review : Sincerely, Andy Rooney by Andy Rooney
Do you miss Andy Rooney? I do. He was my favorite part of 60 minutes. While we can’t give you his famous expressions under those magnificent eyebrows or the sound of his voice and perfectly cadenced delivery, we can give you his words. In Sincerely, Andy Rooney, it isn’t hard to see and hear him in these pithy, always honest, letters. Here is a wide variety of letters he has written in response to some of the thousands of letters he has received. Some will make you smile, laugh out loud, shake your head and on occasion tear up. What I like most is that he doesn’t lie to you. He says what he thinks whether it’s politically correct, in vogue, or expected. If you don’t want an honest answer from him; don’t ask. He is humble enough to know that he doesn’t have all the answers, but also knows what he believes and has the guts to say it.Here is one letter from this book.
“Bobby L. Dexter
Harvard Law School
Dear Mr., or possibly Ms., Dexter,
I trust you’ll be flattered to hear that I’ve posted your letter, addressed to me care of 20/20, ABC on the 60 Minutes bulletin board here at CBS as evidence of what we can expect from future Harvard Law School graduates.”
The good news is, if you like Sincerely, Andy Rooney, he has written others.
