“Arabella of Mars” by David Levine

Arabella loves growing up wild on her family’s plantation on Mars, where she savors the freedom and wonder of the beautiful and stark landscape. So when her mother forces her to travel to Earth to learn to be a proper lady, Arabella is devastated.  When disaster strikes at home and she desperately needs to get back to Mars, Arabella disguises herself as a boy and, using her mechanical abilities, finds passage on a ship.  Thus begins an adventure Arabella never expected and readers will love to experience along with her!

This book has the steampunk style of Victorian space travel, the thrill of adventure on a rough and dangerous ship, and a good amount of fun as Arabella transforms herself and those around her with each new challenge she faces and conquers.
