Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo

Image result for wonder woman warbringerA teenage Diana Prince witnesses an explosion off the coast of her home island Themyscira and swims out to investigate. She rescues teen Alia from drowning and brings her to shore; however, Alia’s presence (she’s mortal) on the island causes things to go haywire – Amazons are becoming sick, earthquakes, and more. Diana visits the island’s Oracle and discovers that Alia is more than she seems – she is a Warbringer, a direct descendant of Helen of Troy, and if she is not cleansed in the spring at Helen’s final resting place then the whole world will be sprung into unfathomable violence and war. Diana and Alia must reach Greece before the new moon. What follows is a whirlwind adventure that spans from Themyscira to NYC and Greece. Diana is not “Wonder Woman” yet so she’s still learning about her full abilities while also trying not to bring too much attention to herself in the mortal world. This book has plenty of humor (due to Diana not being familiar with our modern culture) and it is packed with excitement, adventure, and plot twists! Recommended to Wonder Woman fans or someone looking for a great adventure story with strong female characters.
