The Life of Captain Marvel by Margaret Stohl

After experiencing a panic attack during battle, Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, has taken a leave of absence from the Avengers to visit her childhood home in Harpswell, ME. While she’s there, her brother is in a horrific car crash and she ends up staying longer than anticipated to help her mom take care of him. Carol goes through some old boxes of her dad’s and unknowingly sets off an intergalactic device that soon brings trouble to the sleepy Maine town.

This is a must read for Captain Marvel fans! This volume shows a different side of Carol and really gets into her familial background. It’s a touching story of self-discovery but still doesn’t lack in the action department! If you’re looking forward to the upcoming Captain Marvel movie and would like some background knowledge before seeing it, check out Higher, Further, Faster, More by Kelly Sue DeConnick and Marvel’s Captain Marvel Prelude.
