Get a Library Card
Please note that for online library card applications, there is a delay of about one week–we will mail the new card to you at the address provided, as proof of residency.
Your free public library card allows you access to a wealth of services at the Haverhill Library and throughout the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (over 35 libraries). Haverhill residents may borrow books, magazines, CDs, games, videos, and DVDs from our library and consortium libraries.
Getting a Library Card is Easy!
Complete the Online Library Card Application for Haverhill Residents or come to the Library and show an ID with your name and correct local address. Cards are free for Haverhill residents, business owners, students, teachers, and municipal employees. Children ages 12 and under must apply with a parent or guardian. Haverhill students age 13 or in grade seven and higher may apply without a parent or guardian present.
Don’t Forget to Share Your Email address!
Please provide your current email address so that we can send a courtesy notice when items are coming due, overdue, or an item on hold has arrived. You can update your email address online, in person at the library, or by phone. We never sell your contact information or spam your email account.
Other MVLC Residents: May obtain a temporary card that gives access for 30 days; temp cards must be replaced by a card at the resident’s local library by the 30 day deadline. Temporary cards do not grant access to library databases, museum pass privileges, or Internet access.
Other Massachusetts Residents: Must show their hometown library card.
Your Library Card is Valuable!
Please don’t let others use your library card — you are responsible for items on your card. If you lose your card or it is stolen, please report it to the library immediately. You are responsible for any use of the card until the library has been notified.
Thanks for Being a Good Neighbor!
Thank you for returning your borrowed items on time so that your friends and neighbors may have timely access to the materials in the Library collection. All borrowed materials may be returned through the automated book return located in the first floor foyer, or in the automated book return just outside the main entrance near the parking lot. Kits and over-sized items must be returned during regular library hours. Never leave your materials outside of the library! In the event the automated system becomes jammed, please use the emergency book drop to the right of the doors.
