Happy National Library Week April 19-25, 2020!

National Library Week: improving literacy, supporting intellectual freedom, increasing library funding

National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities.

The original theme for National Library Week, “Find your place at the library,” was chosen months ago before the emergence of a global pandemic would force libraries to close their buildings. In response to our rapidly-changing times, the American Library Association revised the theme to “Find the library at your place” to bring attention to how libraries are open for business online, offering the electronic services and digital content their communities need now more than ever.

This is a time to celebrate libraries and their contributions to the community! Let us know how HPL has made a difference while you’ve been social distancing at home. Post to Instagram, Twitter, or on the I Love Libraries Facebook page, about an ebook, audiobook, virtual storytime or bookclub, using the hashtag #ThankYouLibraries and tag us. One randomly selected winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card!

Follow the American Library Association and I Love Libraries on social media and join us on social media by using the hashtags #NationalLibraryWeek and #LibrariesTransform.
