Introducing the Senter Digital Archive: In Memory of Dorothy Senter Geoffrion, Elsie Senter Smith, and Mildred Senter Lemieux

Take a look at our brand new digital archive, which features over 4,000 images, with more added every week. The library has acquired over 50,000 photographs since its birth in 1873, and thanks to a generous donor and the Trustees of the Library, we now are digitizing them! If you love history, Haverhill or photography, take a few minutes to explore the Senter Digital Archive: in memory of Dorothy Senter Geoffrion, Elsie Senter Smith, and Mildred Senter Lemieux.

To access this expanding resource, patrons can go to http://haverhill.pastperfectonline.com/ and search by keyword, such as “Winnekenni”, or do an advanced search for a more specific query. Visitors can also view images at random and browse the collection. All images are watermarked, but versions without watermarks can be requested by clicking the “Request Image” icon and filling out a brief form. This marvelous collection contains digital images of film and glass negatives, slides, lantern slides, postcards and photographs. Images range in date from the 1850s to the late 20th century; they include studio portraits, press photographs, and work by local photographers. Subjects include Haverhill architecture, businesses, people, schools, churches, manufacturing, engineering, copies of historical documents, maps, monuments, surrounding communities, the library itself, and more.
