Mental Health Awareness Month – Caregiving

Mental illness doesn’t just affect the person with the diagnosis – it affects their family and their community as well. Link here for a helpful infographic published by NAMI.

It can be very hard to know how to support a family member who has a mental illness. NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) has information and resources for family and caregivers of people with mental illness.

Other organizations have resources for caregivers. While not every type of caregiving is the same, there is some crossover.

AARP has a list of resources for caregivers.

American Society on Aging has a list of 25 organizations that have resources for caregivers.

The Family Caregiver Alliance has many fact and tip sheets for caregivers.
