What’s the Plan? Phased Re-Opening

We know everyone is anxious to get back to the library and have been asking lots of questions about what our plan for reopening is.

Well, we (being detail obsessed librarians) have come up with a multi-phased plan that will be implemented over the course of the upcoming weeks.

First, all staff are back in the building and working hard to get the space ready to go. Finishing projects, mapping out safe distancing, and preparing for the changes ahead.

Next, we will adhere to the Governor’s plan and restart curbside pickup next week. We will provide you with more details on how this will work, BUT since book delivery between libraries is still suspended, you will only have access to items ON OUR SHELVES.

Beyond that, things will be decided with guidance from the Commonwealth, the Board of Library Commissioners, our Board of Trustees, and City officials. We have our plan ready to go, the only thing in flux will be timing.

Our goal is to provide the services you love and rely on (including some new stuff we think you’ll really like) while maintaining the safety of our staff and our public. When we do begin to allow the public back in the building strict guidelines will be in place and we will enforce them. With cooperation, we can get things moving along and hopefully return to normal as soon as is safe and reasonable.

In the meantime, please continue to take advantage of the enormous amount of digital resources we have and don’t hesitate to reach out with questions.

We will keep you up to date as changes begin.
