The World Beneath Their Feet by Scott Ellsworth

Scott Ellsworth transports us to the 1930s in his latest book The World Beneath Their Feet. But this is not another book about World War II and its aftermath. Death defying adventure awaits in this beautifully written account of successful summits of the tallest mountains in the world – the Himalayas.

The British, the Germans and the Americans all mount successful expeditions and summit these impressively high mountains. There are many devastating tragedies along the way, numbers of unsuccessful expeditions and accounts of broken-off summit attempts due to weather and sickness. If you like history and adventure, this is a great book to try!

The publisher, Little Brown, has given us some great author read-alike options on the back flap which include Hampton Sides, Erik Larson, Jon Krakauer and Laura Hillenbrand. You can find books by these authors and more on Overdrive and Libby.

Be sure to check back next week for another great Non-Fiction read!
